ColaDaily.com is a locally owned and operated 24/7 news platform. Part of Midlands Media Group, we’ve provided free content via website, newsletters and social media since 2013.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, curious and tech-savvy leader who is excited about sharing local news, information and events that shape our community.  In this full time position, you’ll write daily stories, manage a team, work to build on and execute the overall Cola Daily strategy and seek ways to grow the brand.

This position may also provide broadcast news updates to sister properties, 94.3 The Dude and 93.1 The Lake. 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: 

  • Highly organized with the ability to write, manage and schedule content each day
  • Ability to assign to, and manage, freelancers + other contributors
  • Ability to write news + features, and rework submitted material (AP style) in a timely manner
  • Ambitious self-starter with desire to seek out and discern interesting stories
  • Willing to accept editing suggestions and collaborate with our team
  • Oversee the operation of web, newsletter and social platforms
  • Must be proficient with technology and CMS digital platforms 
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude, ability to represent Cola Daily to partners, vendors, advertisers and the greater Midlands community 
  • Ability to write unbiased and informational content
  • Willingness to remain up-to-date on breaking news outside of regular office hours
  • Flexible, able to prioritize and adapt quickly to news environment
  • Excellent communication, writing + proofreading skills

MORE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or similar field preferred
  • Minimum 3 years news writing experience
  • Reliable transportation and access to internet.
  • Active and involved in the community; willing to build relationships with civic and business leaders
  • Basic graphic design and photography experience
  • Interest in continued learning and staying up to date on what it takes to succeed in a digital news environment
  • Flexible to work nights/weekends as needed for publishing and events when needed
  • Strong familiarity with the greater Midlands area
  • Ability to pass a background check
